Tuscan Smash | Charleston City Guide

Cannon Green was featured in Glossed and Found + Mr. & Mrs. Smith Hotel‘s  Charleston City Guide, with a special spotlight on one of our favorite Market Cocktails, the Tuscan Smash. Glossed and Found says “This refreshing gin cocktail plays with basil, tomatoes and lemons for a glass of happiness with a nod to Charleston’s affinity for garden freshness.” Wanna learn how to make the Tuscan Smash at home? Tuscan Smash Recipe:


2 cherry tomatoes

pinch of salt

1-2 basil leaves

¼ oz lemon juice

1 oz orange basil syrup

¼ oz Jack Rudy tonic

2 oz gin


Muddle 2 cherry tomatoes, 1-2 basil leaves, and a pinch of salt. Add lemon juice, orange basil syrup, tonic and gin. Fill with ice. Place all ingredients in shaker and shake, then pour into glass. 

Garnish with cherry tomato and fresh basil


Orange Basil Simple Syrup Recipe:


2 orange peels

Juice of 1 orange

6-12 basil leaves

1 pint sugar

1 pint water


Combine orange peels, orange juice ,  basil leaves, sugar and  water into a saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let stand for about 2 hours.
