Menu Spotlight: Chèvre Tortellini

Who’s up for an adventure? Ready? Get in your car and drive about four hours to Climax, North Carolina. Once in Climax, find Goat Lady Dairy and then try their goat cheese. Make the four hour return trek back to Charleston. Or you could just head to Cannon Green and taste the delicious fromage without leaving the peninsula.

Our Spring Street eatery’s Chèvre Tortellini features Goat Lady Dairy’s goat cheese, wrapped in Chef Amalia Scatena’s house-made pasta, and accented with English peas, first crop zucchini, sun gold tomatoes, and thyme.

The vegetarian dish showcases what Chef Scatena is all about: using her training to let the flavors speak for themselves. The tangy cheese off set by the peas, balanced by the zucchini. The sun gold tomatoes add a layer of acidity that pairs nicely with the thyme, all mixing perfectly with the tortellini. The dish bursts with flavors and will have your taste buds dancing. The last bite leaves you completely satisfied but still yearning for more. But we suggest instead of ordering another round of the pasta, finishing the night with one of Cannon Green’s sweet treats or a nice glass of dessert wine.

Cannon Green is open for dinner Tuesday – Saturday, 5 – 11 pm;
and Sunday Brunch, 11 am – 3 pm. Reservations are recommended.
