Blushing Bride Cocktail

Today we’re sharing one of our all time favorite summer cocktail recipes ~ The Blushing Bride. It’s a crowd-pleaser at Cannon Green weddings and it’ll be sure to delight your guests at your next garden party. The Blushing Bride gets its rosy tones from fresh watermelon juice but don’t be fooled by its sweet name! It packs a punch with the jalapeño basil simple syrup. The basil garnish adds a floral aroma – making this sweet, spice and everything nice. 

The recipe is for 1 cocktail:
2 oz Vodka
2.5 oz Fresh Watermelon Juice
.75 oz Jalapeno Basil Simple Syrup
.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
1 piece of Basil to garnish

Mix all ingredients in a shaker tin with ice and shake vigorously.  Strain over top of fresh ice and garnish with basil leaf.

Fresh Watermelon Juice:
Take half of a ripe watermelon cut the edible part off of the rind into 1×1 chunks and place in a blender with a 1/2 cup to 1 cup of water and blend until smooth.  Strain liquid through a chinois, discard pulp.

Jalapeño Basil Simple Syrup:
Take two Jalapeños and 8-10 pieces of basil (the ratio is 2 cups sugar to 2 cups hot water) steep peppers and basil in the mixture stir until clear and let sit 1 hour. Taste for spice and flavor and adjust time accordingly longer if you want it spicier and shorter if you like less spice.
